So you’ve read the advantages and disadvantages of having either Shower Curtains or Shower Doors and you find yourself favouring the latter. You’ve taken the first step in rediscovering what you want for your shower area.
The next step is to find out what style is ideal to make your dream bathroom a reality.
Before asking the definite questions to lead you to the perfect door, consider the space that you will be working on. With that firmly on your mind, you may proceed to ask the following questions:
What kind of material am I looking for?
There are glass and plastic materials for doors. Although glass is fragile looking, it is actually very sturdy and will not easily break. Selecting your custom glass shower doors is easy. Plastic on the other hand is lighter than glass so it is easier to handle. In cleaning, glass is definitely easier to manage.
Do I want clear or frosted panels?
Clear panels give off the impression of a more spacious bathroom. It is also clean looking compared to frosted types. On the other hand, frosted panels give a sense of privacy without being too dark as it still allows light to pass through inside the shower area.
Would it be better to have framed or frameless doors?
Frameless shower doors are better aesthetically because they are clean looking but they are quite expensive. Framed doors on the other hand are more economical however, if not maintained properly these frames can be a breeding ground for mildew and bacteria.
How do I want to open my door?
This is where the bathroom space becomes relevant. There are three styles to choose from: Hinged, Sliding and Bi-fold. Hinged doors require the most space while Sliding and Bi-fold are more space friendly.
Choosing the perfect Shower door will depend on your own personal preference and design. No matter how it looks like, be sure to consider the people who will be using them. After all, these doors are not there for display but to be used everyday by all those living in your household.
